The Welcome Super Topic: Come Say Hello!

#1

Welcome to the Ackerly Green Forum!

If you’re here, it’s most likely because the Guide to Magiq found you and sorted you into your guild, and you got an email telling you to come here. If so, welcome! You’re probably wondering where to go next, and what’s going on. It’s a lot to take in, we know. We’re here to help. So sit tight, grab a snack, and read this to the end.

  1. First stop: please read the Forum Primer and our Rules. This is super important. The Forum Primer explains the structure of the Forum, how immersion works for our interactive narratives, and breaks down the Trust Levels which determine when and where you can start posting. It also provides helpful links on where to get started and tells you who your guild leaders are. Our rules are also extra important. They’re basic community guidelines, and most of them boil down to being respectful and welcoming, but there are also some more specific guidelines for topics like privacy and how to discuss mental health. Please read them all. It will be pretty clear if you haven’t, and could affect your trust level progression.

  2. After you’ve read the Forum Primer and the rules, come back to this topic and introduce yourself! Say hello, share a little bit about yourself, and tell us which guild you were sorted into. One of our Welcome @Wagoneers will then officially welcome you into the fold, and they will direct you to some of the other places you can start participating.

  3. The next big step is getting caught up on the narrative. Reading The Monarch Papers is a great place to start, and you should have been able to download Volume One for free when you joined us. As far as the narratives go, the order of our stories goes: TMP1, TMP2, The Secret Society, and The Search for Magiq. The books are obviously the most straightforward way to get caught up, and have narrative you can’t find anywhere else, but you can also explore The Monarch Papers Archive or the wiki (be warned though, spoilers abound in the wiki!)

It should only take a couple of hours before you are able to post in The Guilds, where you can start meeting your other guild members and familiarizing yourself with the Magiqverse. Since this is the first place you can really start to dive into the Magiqverse, we’ve put a lot of effort into making your guild a fun space for you to explore while you’re still learning, and each guild leader has put their own individual spin on making your guild feel like a home for you on the forum.

The guild halls are places to chat and hang out, create, and delve deeper into the lore of the Magiqverse, and we really think you’ll have a lot of fun there.

The time between trust levels 1 and 2 is to give you time to get caught up on the story enough to be able to contribute in the most meaningful way possible. We’re not trying to be cliquey or exclusionary, we just want everyone to have the most meaningful and enjoyable experience possible while they’re here.

Hopefully this helps demystify how things work around here, but you are always more than welcome to post in the general Q&A topic as well if there’s anything we didn’t cover. Be sure to check the site FAQ before you post, though, as many of the questions newcomers often have are either addressed in more detail there, or provide direction to a place on the forum that answers that particular question.

That’s all for now! Welcome home, new Mounties!

Hello, Fellow Thornmouths (And Others)!

We recently archived the original Welcome Topic because it was getting a little tough to manage. This is the fresh, brand spanking new welcome topic where you can introduce yourself to the community!

Heya,
Just started reading Flora and Fauna and working on catching up.

OC I work on computers by day, bookworm by night and larper by weekends.
Can’t make it to my usual larp this weekend, so stumbling across the magiqverse was a unexpected and welcome rabbit hole. Loveing the concept of the readers being able to shape the world, although I don’t envy the author.

Assesment says I’m Thornmouth although I’m also drawn to Weatherwatch.
I’m already in love with the Thornmouth Guild lighthouse, but I could see myself studying in the library and then working on various spells in the storms outside.

Anyway need to catch up to work out the history and the rules.

Hi everyone!

I am DarkNova! I am a little horrible at introductions, but I love space, cats, and everything magic. I am in the Balimora guild which, when I read the description, suited me very well. I am currently reading The Monarch Papers and trying to figure out how all of this works. It’s my first time ever posting into any sort of form, so go easy on me :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hello  I just stumbled upon the Maqiverse through a post on Instagram last night and was deftly sorted into Thornmouth. I’m going to work on reading Flora and Fauna when I’m in transit later today.

I love the fact that I can input into the creation of the world, it reminds me a bit of playing tabletop RPGs when I was younger and then EVE when I got older.

I’m in digital forensics by day, but at night and on weekends, I craft and read anything that I can get my paws on.

I need to sort out all the things before I start contributing for sure!

Thanks for this!

The odds are not stacked in my favor to have other Torontonians here. Although, I wonder what the actual “player” numbers are to date?

Hey, y’all! I’m Ariah (Ari for short) Found the Magiq Assessment through Instagram as other newbies have too. I’m in Balimora guild! I’ve always had a thing for fantasy, books, and online quizzes though never got into RPGs or online forums before. I was intrigued. I’ve read both MP books in 2 days and can’t wait to dive in!

Wow, you’re way ahead of me in the reading! I’m glad we can do this at our own pace though, I don’t feel time pressure at all.
